Lukas Colombo received a Bachelor of Science degree in Cinema/Television and was honored as the Outstanding Graduate in Journalism and Entertainment Media in 2010 from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. His passion for filmmaking began in 2007 with extensive experience in post-production as the Avid studio manager and technician for the University. Since then, Lukas’ production work has been recognized with a number of awards and honors. He received his first two major awards for direction of the television commercial, Overdrive. In 2008, at the US International Film and Video Festival, Overdrive received the student award in the category of Advertising/Marketing for the General Audience. In 2009, Overdrive won first place overall for television commercials at the INRB national convention. Also in 2009, the INRB selected Lukas as the winner of the 36DV Challenge for his 36-hour, short-format production, Without Light. In 2009, Without Light also received the INRB People’s Choice Award.
Lukas’ prowess in film direction has also been recognized in his more recent production, Clive. This short-format physiological drama shot on 16mm film received a number of accolades including a Platinum award for Best Cinematography and a Gold award for Best Student Film at the AVA Awards in 2009; a Bronze Telly award at the 31st Annual Telly Awards in 2010; and a Gold Remi award at the 43rd Annual Worldfest at the Houston International Film and Video Festival; and as recently as June 2010, with a Silver at the 16th Annual Communicator Awards and the 14th Annual Videographer Awards! Lukas’ next short film, Animus, an 18‐minute dramatic piece shot on 16mm film, was completed in April 2010 and has garnered the Platinum award for Best Cinematography and a Gold award for Best Student Film at the 2010 AVA Awards. The films most recent award came at the 32nd Annual Telly Awards in March 2011 where it won a Bronze Telly. Since Animus Lukas has had the privilege to work with well known actors on several independent projects.
In 2009, Lukas founded Moai Films based in Atlanta, Georgia and Los Angeles, California through which ‐ in addition to his films – he has also directed and produced a number of music videos and commercial spots. His recent music video work can even be seen on MTV and VH1! His work has provided him extensive experience in both underwater HD videography and Steadicam operation. Documentary shoots for Global Village have taken him to places such as Chile, Israel, Japan, and South Korea.
Raised in Santiago, Chile, Lukas is a widely traveled individual, fluent in both the Spanish and English languages, passionate about his craft, and fervently committed to excellence, innovation, and integrity.
